Crude oil shock: biofuels back in the money — and that matters for vegetable oils…
Better weather in the US has been pushing prices of Soya oil lower as supply is expected to be better. However Crude oil prices have been edging up as US stocks continue to drop as demand picks up. Certainly the threat of a further glut in supply seems to be receding. So whilst lower US Soya prices have been the negative factor the improving Crude prices seem to be outweighing this. Coconut oil price has been stable throughout as demand remains steady. Although as we head into the typhoon season weather is going to play a much bigger role.
Desiccated prices have been weaker with the lower quality shippers as they chase down buyers for business. Sri Lanka prices have dipped quite heavily as the Middle East slow down orders post Eid al-Fitr. Philippine orders though remain strong as there remains strong buying at the quality end of the market.
